My Trip to Paris (Part 2)

The Eiffel Tower

It was a 15 minute train ride from my hotel to the Eiffel tower. When I got to street level I was sure I would be able to see the tower, but it was no where to be seen. I took a gamble and began walking North. I only had to walk one block and there it was. The tower is very impressive up close. It opens at 9:30 and there was already a long line waiting for elevator tickets. The line moved quickly and I purchased a ticket to go to the top. A lot of people think it is a waste of money, but I think it should be done at least once. You really only need to visit the second and first levels. The upper deck on the second floor offers the best photos. Warning: you are crammed on the lift with no breathing, so be careful of pickpocketing.

I decided to walk down instead of taking the lift. There are over 300 steps between ground level and the first floor alone. Here are some pictures of the Eiffel tower at ground level.
