The Wall

Our side lot got totally washed-out in early July from the flash flooding that Lebanon got hit with. Our neighbor is getting it repaired with a new retaining wall. Here are some photos:

 

Gile Mountain and The Shredd Shack

I took the kids up Gile Mountain in Norwich, Vt. This is a great little hike, but get there early. This is a popular hike for people visiting the Upper Valley. There were more plates in the parking lot from New Jersey than Vermont. The trail head is near the end of Lower Turnpike Road and the tower is .7 miles from the parking lot. There is even a mountain bike only trail. The Shredd Shack at the top is the old Ranger’s quarters. The tower is the tallest I have been on, so you cannot be afraid of heights.

    

Jordan Pond-Acadia National Park

Here is a virtual tour of Jordan Pond with even a taste of popovers in the end. We always do the Jordan Pond Shore Trail which loops around the pond. It is a little over 3 miles. The pictures start at the parking lot trail head and then counter clockwise around the lake and end up at the Jordan Pond House Restaurant.
